Our History
Word of Life had it’s beginning at the Roy R. Reitzel Center in downtown Liberty where services were held for five years. In September of 1996 the church purchased eighteen acres of land about four miles northeast of the town, in Chatham County.
The year 2000 saw the construction, of a church facility on the land, where we currently reside today. The Pastoral Ministries of Carl & Mechelle Thompson began at Beulah United Church of Christ in the summer of 1992. After pastoring there for two and a half years, the Lord led them to start a work in the Town of Liberty, in February of 1995. The church was subsequently named, “Word of Life Christian Outreach Center.”
Word of Life Christian Outreach Center is an independent Pentecostal Church with a heartfelt desire to teach and preach the Word of God, with signs and wonders followings. We believe that our church will reflect the rainbow of God’s humanity through multicultural membership, involvement and engagement.
It is our desire to be a light in darkness, an island of refuge in a turbulent sea, and a place of refreshing to those who are weary and destitute.
